To me The Joker is the most iconic villain in cinema and hands down the best comic book villain ever created. There's been many different iterations of The Joker both in live action films (Romero, Nicholson, Ledger, and Leto) and animated films (Hamill, Emerson, DiMaggio, etc.). My two personal favorites are Heath Ledger and Mark Hamill's interpretations of the character. Hamill's voice resonates with me all throughout my childhood watching Batman The Animated Series. His Joker laugh and the way he delivers his line is probably the most accurate comic book adaptation of the character. I really wish he would have played The Joker just once in a live action film. Heath Ledger's Joker was a completely different take and for me it is and will probably forever will be the best live action performance for any comic book villain. Ledger's performance matched up perfectly with Nolan's vision and incredible dialogue. I would have given up a lot of things to see what Nolan and Ledger could have done with this character had Ledger not passed away. He would have certainly played a role in The Dark Knight Rises and we may have even gotten a Joker Origin movie. Heath Ledger was too young when he passed away. He was just about to hit his prime too. Such a shame. This video that I created is a tribute to Jack Nicholson, Heath Ledger, and Jared Leto's upcoming performance as The Joker in Suicide Squad. I did not include Cesar Romero's Joker simply because I did not watch much of his Joker and I wouldn't be doing his character justice by just throwing him in here without having really watched all of his performances. I didn't include Hamill's Joker either because I wanted to focus just on the live action performances. Batman is my all time favorite superhero, but I always find myself rooting for The Joker to win. We come very close to that with The Dark Knight but Batman being Batman makes the ultimate sacrifice at the end to foil Joker's plan. Hence why Batman is the hero we deserve but not the one it needs right now. The story I wanted to tell with this video is one where the villain wins. I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I enjoyed making it. - I do not own any of the rights to the video content and music content used in this video - All rights and ownership go to Warner Brothers and Hans Zimmer
